Hey, nice to meet you here! My name is Mario Hoppmann, 31 year old physicist from Germany. During the last two years, Photography became an obsession for me, and the Photoblog you are currently surfing on is the logical consequence of this fact. In my travels around the world I hardly give my cam out of my hands for let alone a second, and I spend hours and hours with the post-processing of my shots.
Until the birth of this blog in mid-2010, there was some kind of a void after taking the shots and the post-processing, and now I try to fill this void by showing my photographs to a greater audience. You´re invited to leave some critics or comments to my photos, I would really appreciate that.
Now I just wanted to drop some other words on my person, and the gear I´m carrying around. I live in the Northern part of Germany (near Bremen…known worldwide for its soccer club…Werder) and since a few years I grab every opportunity to travel around to satisfy my addiction to the great nature of our planet. My other big hobby is boardgaming, and by now I have about 400 boardgames in my shelves.
My photographic career started with an almighty Ricoh Caplio compact camera, which was replaced in 2008 with a Fuji Finepix 6500 Bridge camera. Luckily, this cam suffered severe water damage during un unforgettable Holiday on the Azorean island of Flores (while kayaking to a rock considered the outmostern part of Europe).
Next in line was a Canon Eos350d with kit lens, which was quickly replaced by a TAMRON 17-50mm, which I now use in combination with my Canon Eos40d. My Canon 55-250 IS was quickly replaced by the 70-200mm f4 IS USM, which is for obvious reasons my favourite lens. Beside these all-around experts, I couldn´t resist the 100mm Macro USM, the prtrait specialist 85mm f1,8, the cheap 50mm f1,8 and the Samyang 8mm fisheye for the fun stuff. Latest addition for a travel to the canyons of the southwestern USA were a Sigma 10-20mm f4,5-5,6 and some gradual grey filters.
When the big money arrives at my house, my dream of a 5d MKII will be fulfilled.
